Fourth Function

Use only low-viscosity, non-foaming and non-corrosive liquid solutions that are compatible with the QDS materials and suitable for their intended clinical application. Do not use gels, sodium hypochlorite, hydrogen peroxide or any solution not specified in the Fourth Function instructions for use. When in doubt, contact Fourth Function before use.

The QDS does not require a separate calibration procedure. After attaching it to a compatible triple syringe, verify that the connection is secure and free of leaks. Confirm the normal air, water and spray functions, then test the delivery of the selected solution outside the patient’s mouth before clinical use. Always follow the Fourth Function instructions for use.

Clean and disinfect the external surfaces after each patient and whenever visibly soiled, following the Fourth Function instructions for use and applicable infection-control protocols. Reprocess the removable applicator nozzle between patients using the indicated cleaning and sterilization procedure, or replace it with a sterile nozzle when applicable. Do not immerse or autoclave any component unless specifically permitted in the instructions for use.

The QDS attaches to a compatible triple syringe and is designed to add localized solution delivery without substantially changing the usual clinical workflow. Before first use, users should review the Fourth Function instructions and become familiar with attachment, bottle changes, activation, cleaning and reprocessing. No specialized training is generally required, but the QDS should be used only by qualified dental professionals.

The QDS is designed to deliver solutions in a localized and controlled manner, which may help reduce unnecessary product use and interruptions during treatment. Actual material savings and workflow improvements will vary according to the procedure, solution, frequency of use and clinical practices. No specific level of cost savings is guaranteed.

The QDS has undergone functional testing and evaluation under clinical-use conditions during its development. Formal comparative clinical studies against traditional techniques have not yet been published. Fourth Function will communicate additional clinical evidence as it becomes available. The QDS should always be used in accordance with the instructions for use.
